Team,
As I stated previously, my uncle was called home last week, and he will be laid to rest next week. This sometimes difficult event is, however, another example of the power of our Faith and the Promise of being set aside by Him. I wrote this message last year, when another family elder passed, and it is still as true and relevant as it was then.
Revelation 22:1-6
22 Then he showed me the river whose waters give life, sparkling like crystal, flowing out from the throne of God and of the Lamb
2 Through the middle of the broadway of the city; also, on either side of the river was the tree of life with its twelve varieties of fruit, yielding each month its fresh crop; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing and the restoration of the nations.
3 There shall no longer exist there anything that is accursed (detestable, foul, offensive, impure, hateful, or horrible). But the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall worship Him [pay divine honors to Him and do Him holy service].
4 They shall see His face, and His name shall be on their foreheads.
5 And there shall be no more night; they have no need for lamplight or sunlight, for the Lord God will illuminate them and be their light, and they shall reign [as kings] forever and ever (through the eternities of the eternities).
6 And he [of the seven angels further] said to me, These statements are reliable (worthy of confidence) and genuine (true). And the Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets, has sent His messenger (angel) to make known and exhibit to His servants what must soon come to pass.
This is a look at the "source" of Heaven - The River of Living Water. This is as Jesus promised when he spoke of us never going thirsty because His living water flowed (John 7:37-39) without end. The river of Life flows from God, thru Christ, and to each of us via the Holy Spirit. The Water gives each of us a modicum of His Power and Love that we can tap into. In heaven, there is No Darkness. In our ability to tap into Him through the Water, there is No Defeat - we are assured of our victory in Christ and in His Plan for us.
When you are faced with the departure of a loved one, take this scripture to heart, and lean on His Promise and His Word for us. Know that your loved one residing in verses 3 & 4 - continuously in His Presence for all eternity! Take whatever comfort you can find in these words, and in His promises to each of us.
Blessings,
Bryan
